Which quick release do I need for my wheel?
Match two sides: the wheel's bolt pattern (most commonly 70 mm PCD, some 50 mm) and the wheelbase's QR system - Simagic QR50/70, Simucube Link QR, Conspit CDR and so on. Every QR and adapter in this category states both sides in its Compatibility tab, and if your combination is unusual, write to us before ordering.
Can I run a real car steering wheel on my sim rig?
Yes - genuine motorsport rims (MOMO, Sparco, OMP and others) use a standard 6x70 mm bolt pattern, so a button hub like the Simagic Neo X Hub turns any of them into a fully functional sim wheel with buttons, encoders and paddles. A popular route for rally and classic setups.
Why buy a spare quick release?
So each steering wheel keeps its own wheel-side QR permanently mounted - swapping wheels then takes seconds instead of unbolting and re-torquing six screws every time. On rigs with a GT wheel and a formula wheel in rotation, a second QR pays for itself in convenience almost immediately.
How do I know what bolt pattern my wheel has?
Measure the circle the mounting holes sit on (PCD - pitch circle diameter): sim wheels typically use 70 mm or 50 mm with 3 or 6 holes, real motorsport rims 6x70 mm. Manufacturer spec sheets always list it, and if a wheel supports both patterns, 70 mm is the more universal choice.
Do adapters add play or flex to the wheel?
Quality ones do not - CNC-machined and forged aluminium adapters (like Simagic's forged QR-A) transfer direct drive torque without measurable play, which is exactly what they are engineered for. Where play creeps in is cheap cast adapters and stacked chains of multiple adapters - keep the chain short and the parts solid.
