Is a steering wheel included with the ARES 20?

No - the ARES 20 is the wheelbase alone. Pair it with a Conspit wheel in the Conspit Bundle Builder - the 310 APEX (CDR) even ships with the CDR wheel side already fitted.

ARES 20 or ARES 12 - which one do I need?

Same platform - skew-pole motor, 23-bit optical encoder, CDR quick release - different headroom: 20 Nm at 7.9 kg versus 12 Nm at 5.6 kg on the ARES 12. The 20's reserve means it renders strong effects while loafing, with a torque slew rate up to 9.5 Nm/ms; the 12 covers GT racing comfortably at a lower price.

Why does an optical encoder matter?

The 23-bit optical encoder reads wheel position with higher accuracy and immunity to magnetic interference than the magnetic encoders common in this class - the force feedback stays smoother and more reliable. Combined with the skew-pole motor's torque cogging under 2.3%, the ARES 20 delivers detail without the grainy, notchy feel.

Which steering wheels work with the ARES 20?

Three paths: Conspit wheels over the CDR quick release with data through the contacts (the 310 APEX has the CDR wheel side included; the 300 GT and MAX 01 need the CDR Quick Release wheel-side unit); any Conspit wheel via its included Quick-Con 50/70 mm adapter with a coiled USB cable; and third-party USB wheels, which fit mechanically thanks to the CDR's industry-standard dimensions.

Do I need a hub or an E-Stop to run it?

Neither - the ARES 20 connects over USB directly with the included USB 3.0 cable, and the CES E-Stop is an optional accessory the wheelbase runs without. Configuration lives in the free Conspit Link 2.0. PC only (Windows).
